Catholic program recognizes Indians
To mark the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America by the Catholic explorer Columbus, Bishop Walter Sullivan of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond has opened a program of evangelism and reconciliation, with American Indians a special concern.
The diocese will sponsor a pilgrimage to the basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington on May 2. Sullivan is asking Catholics in his diocese to pray nightly for the reconciliation of all peoples in 1992.
