ROANOKE COLLEGE HOSTS EDUCATION COLLOQUIUM
Roanoke College will present "Colloquium 1992: Educating the Whole Person" on Thursday.Guest speakers include Dr. Ernest Boyer, president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teachers; Dr. Gilbert Meilaender Jr., professor of religion and chairman of the department of religion at Oberlin College; and Robert Brustein, artistic director of the American Repertory Theatre and director of the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge.
The three speakers will make separate presentations at 4 p.m. in Olin Hall followed by a panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. in Olin Theater.
Boyer will address the importance of general education. Meilaender will discuss "Forming Both Heart and Mind: The Role of the Church-Related College." Brustein will address "Sense and Sensitivity: The Options of Multiculturalism."
The presentations are free and open to the public. The public also is invited to attend a buffet dinner in the Sutton Student Center Ballroom at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $6.50 per person and may be paid at the door.
