`TALK OF THE TOWN' SHOWCASES WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER
NEWS PROGRAMS: A broadcast of an interview with Pat Brown, executive director of the Women's Resource Center in Radford, will be featured on WVRU's "Talk of the Town," which airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Friday at 1:30 p.m. Brown will discuss the center's programs and its new shelter for battered women and children."Speakers Corner" airs on WVRU Monday at 1 p.m. with anchorman Roger Mudd, who this week interviews Norma Field, associate professor of Japanese literature at the University of Chicago. She will discuss her new book, "In the Realm of A Dying Emperor," which looks at the changes in the country since Hirohito's death in 1989.
WJJJ features Paul Harvey twice today: 8:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. with quips on events and people, and news and comment.
\ LIVE: Plum Sideways, a Roanoke-based bluegrass band, will perform live on WFNR's "Bluegrass Talk Back" show Thursday, 8-9 p.m.

\ WHAT'S NEW? WVRU has "Lakutshon Ilanga: Music Is a Healer" Tuesday at 8 p.m. The 13 segments in this series feature South African music and uses local people as guides to the various aspects of African music. This second part is entitled "Tradition in the Townships."
\ INTERNATIONAL: WVRU's "International Folk Music Hour" this week features the music of Switzerland.
