TECH UPSETS SOUTH FLORIDA
Lisa Griffith scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to lift the Virginia Tech women to their first Metro Conference win of the season, a 74-59 upset of first-place South Florida.The score was 27-27 at halftime, but Tech held South Florida to 32 percent shooting in the second half.
Dayna Sonovick added 17 points for Tech.
Roanoke/Lynchburg LYNCHBURG - Donna Cogar scored 15 points and Kristie Jomes had 12 as the Maroons (9-2,4-0) beat the Hornets (8-4,2-2) and remained undefeated in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Roanoke led 36-30 at halftime and held Lynchburg to 33 percent shooting (8-for-24) in the second half.
Roanoke dominated the rebounding 40-31. Cogar also had 10 rebounds, four blocked shots, four steals and three assists.
Alana Carter had 13 points and Kerry Womack 11 for Lynchburg.
FERRUM - Omecca Craig scored 17 points and the Panthers pulled away from a halftime tie for a victory over Hollins. Serena Beedie scored 17, Shayes Strager 11, Michelle Milner 10 and Julie King 10 for Hollins.
RADFORD - Patrinda Toney finished with 26 points and 12 assists to power the Highlanders (10-7, 4-0) past the Chanticleers (4-9, 0-3) in the Big South.
