CAN'T DRIVE NOW TO DETROIT FOR WORK
MY HEART goes out to people who are losing their jobs these days. Factories are laying off; factories are closing.I remember several years ago, when I lived in Wise County, jobs were sometimes hard to come by. But back then, people could jump in their Fords, Chevys and Plymouths and head for Detroit. The American automobile industries were begging for workers, educated and uneducated.
Today, if we get out of work, we can't head for Japan. They don't hire unemployed Americans. JAMES J. HALL FINCASTLE
