MURPHY, CHARLOTTE G.

Charlotte Greeley Murphy, age 70, of Roanoke died on January 24, 1992 in a local nursing home. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, a graduate of Longwood College, and retired Home Economics Supervisor at Jefferson High School. She was an officer of the Greenvale Nursery School, a founding officer and board member of the Roanoke Valley Catholic Historical Society, an Assistant Registrar and Chief Office of Election for the City of Roanoke. She was a past officer of St. Andrews Parrish Board, a co-supervisor of St. Andrews Alter Society, a director of St. Andrews C.C.D. (Sunday School) program and a Minister of the Eucharist of St. Andrews Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, James J. Murphy; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Susan and Jeffrey M. Robertson, Williamsburg; grandson, Steven Patrick Robertson; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy G. and Russell Meador, Vinton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Emmett E., Jr. and Margaret Greeley, Vinton; J. Patrick and Miriam Greeley, Canton, N.C.; brother-in-law and wife, Francis J. and Mary Rita Murphy; many cousins, nieces and nephews. A rosary service will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 7:30 p.m. Sunday by Sister Mary Gertrude Meyer. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Andrews Catholic Church 11:15 a.m. Monday by the Rev. William F. O'Brien. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Roanoke Valley Catholic Historical Society, or Greenvale Nursery School. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
