WELLS, CHARLES W.

Charles Warren Wells, age 82 of Roanoke, died Saturday, January 25, 1992 after a long illness. Mr. Wells was retired from the Roanoke City Fire Department after 27 years service, he retired as Captain of No. 1 Ladder Truck in 1956. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Virginia W. Custer and husband, Calvin W. Custer, Fincastle; one grandson, Wesley Custer, Fincastle; also survived by many special friends including his dog, Major who was constantly at his side. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 1992 with the Rev. Jay Landon Maddex officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
