`Porgy & Bess' rehearsal opens for ticketsThe Feb. 16 dress rehearsal for "Porgy and Bess" will be open to the public, it was announced Monday.
Tickets are $5 each and can be reserved by calling the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra at 343-9127.
The move is being made to accommodate those who were unable to get tickets for the Feb. 17 concert performance of the George Gershwin masterpiece. It has been sold out since last week.
"Porgy and Bess" is being presented by the orchestra, Opera Roanoke and the Roanoke Valley Choral Society.
Noontime organ concerts in February
The 14th annual Noontime Organ Concerts will feature four concerts in February by Donita Moore, Tom Baugh and Robert Chapman at First Presbyterian Church, 2101 S. Jefferson St., Roanoke.
Baugh and Chapman will perform organ duos by Beethoven, Hancock, Rutter and Saint-Saens on Feb. 5.
Moore will perform toccatas and flourishes Feb. 12.
Chapman will play turn-of-the-century works for the Feb. 19 program.
Baugh will play Marcel Dupre's "The Passion" on Feb. 26.
The 30-minute concerts begin at 12:05 p.m. For information, call 344-3204.
