CHRISTIANSBURG MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE ATTEMPT

A 37-year-old Christiansburg man has been charged with abducting and attempting to rape a woman he lived with.

Christiansburg police said Ernest Devane Gravely was charged Thursday after investigation of an incident that happened Tuesday in the 200 block of Wakeman Court.

Lt. Doug Marrs said the two had been living together. Gravely was accused of not allowing the woman, also 37, to leave and attempting to rape her.

Gravely is being held in the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
