`KIDS AND GUNS' SERIES: POLITICALLY CORRECT
YOUR RECENT "Kids and Guns" series brought to mind several quotes. In its song, "Witch Hunt," the avant-garde rock group Rush states, "Those who know what's best for us must rise and save us from ourselves."This seems to sum up the gist of your series nicely. No one could argue that it would fail any test of political correctness. Indeed, it is a textbook example.
Your poll brings to mind the colonel in Dr. Strangelove. It has to be fluoride in the city water that accounts for the diametric views between your poll and the views of my non-fluoridated country friends. Is it possible that the colonel really knew what he was talking about? Naaah!
Thomas Jefferson stated, "No free man shall ever be barred use of his arms!" What a rabble-rouser! What could ol' powder wig have known about the Second Amendment anyway? After all, it wasn't like he was a political science professor or something!
It isn't bad enough Jefferson made such politically incorrect faux pas. Other old fogeys like James "Cupcakes" Madison and George "Sleepy" Washington spouted similar silliness.
Ben Franklin said, "Those who prefer safety over liberty deserve neither." Treason! Aren't these the ravings of a senile ol' penny-pitcher who flies kites in electrical storms? Those of us who aspire to George Orwell's dream of a political correct society will have nothing to do with this ancient nonsense. MICHAEL PUCKETT ROCKY GAP
