BAROQUE MASTER CLASS THURSDAY AT VA. TECH
Lionel Party, harpsichordist with the New York Philharmonic, will give a lecture and master class on Baroque music Thursday at 3 p.m. in the choral rehearsal room of the music department at Virginia Tech. The event is free and open to the public.Party, who came to New York in 1970 from his native Chile, is a professor at the Julliard School and former winner of the prestigious International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition. He joined the faculty at the Julliard School in 1977 after studying there as a Fulbright scholar.
In addition to his work in New York, Party performs regularly as a soloist at music festivals around the world.
Party will perform in the annual Chamberfest benefit concert for the Virginia Chamber Music Academy Saturday . The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Virginia Tech's Squires Recital Salon at Squires Student Center.
