ARTSTRAVAGANZA AUCTION PREVIEW OPENS THURSDAY IN BLACKSBURG

Fifty-three works by Western Virginia artists will be on display Thursday through Feb. 21 as a preview to the annual Artstravaganza auction.

Artstravaganza, including works by Joni Pienkowski, Eric Fitzpatrick, Martha Dillard and Ann Bell, raises scholarship funds for art students. Last year's event earned $17,000. Artists whose work is sold receive a commission.

The works are on display at Perspective Gallery in Squires Student Center, where people can put written bids.

The works will be auctioned in the Commonwealth Ballroom at Squires Feb. 22. The deadline to register for the event is Feb. 12 and reservations can be made by calling the Tech Art Department at 231-5547.

The event begins at 5 p.m. with cocktails and is followed by dinner at $50 per person and is blacktie optional.

This is the third year for the event.
