FLOYD WOMAN, DAUGHTER KILLED IN SUNDAY CRASH
A Floyd County woman and her daughter were killed Sunday in an accident involving a car and two pickup trucks in Carroll County. The victims were identified as Ella Marie Turman, 29, of Willis, and her 10-year old daughter, Christina M. Turman.
Both were thrown from the pickup driven by Walter Ray Turman, husband and father of the two.
He and the occupants of the other vehicles were treated at hospitals and released.
Trooper J.H. Wheatley said Monday that, from his investigation up to that point, it appeared that no one was wearing seat belts.
The Turman pickup collided with a sedan that had pulled out of a private drive and was turning into another farther along U.S. 221.
The truck had started to go around the car when the car turned and the collision occurred, flipping the truck over.
Another pickup also had started to pass the car, but veered away when the accident occurred and collided with the back of the car, knocking it over an embankment.
The collisions happened at 11:25 a.m. on U.S. 221, less than 1,000 feet south of Virginia 638.
