COUNTY PROPAGANDA ON PROPERTY VALUES
I MUST RESPOND to a news article in the Roanoke Times & World-News Jan. 17, "Property values rise 4.2 percent [for Roanoke County]."If anyone outside is planning to move to the county, don't believe this propaganda. My assessment increased 14.87 percent, and I know others who had an even greater increase.
One of the most disgusting things, in addition to having to pay more tax, is the annual statement by the county administrator: "Again this year Roanoke County did not increase the tax rate."
If the assessment increases 15 to 25 percent, they will never have to increase the tax rate. RALPH W. FOSTER ROANOKE
