TREE RECYCLING CALLED A SUCCESS
A Christmas tree recycling drive sponsored by Laurel Creek Nursery of Christiansburg and Custom Cut Tree Service of Roanoke was a success, the owners said.An estimated 800 trees were returned, coming from as far as West Virginia.
Good Samaritans also hauled in trees that they found dumped on the side of the road.
The businesses combined resources and turned the trees into mulch in an effort to save landfill space.
In return for bringing in their trees, area residents received a certificate for a free spruce seedling, which will be distributed April 15-30 to coincide with both Virginia and National Arbor Days.
