MAGNOX INC. TO EXPAND IN PULASKI
Magnox Inc. has started engineering work on a $6.5 million expansion to add a facility at its existing site.Magnox spokesman Hi Nicely told Pulaski Town Council on Tuesday that the addition will not expand the corporation's capacity, but will use materials it already makes for high-grade videotapes in another process.
Nicely said eight to 10 new employees would be added in the next two years. He said the work from the expansion mainly would serve the Asian market.
In another matter, council continued its argument from last month over the placing of used Christmas trees into Gatewood Reservoir to help create fish habitat. Councilman Andrew Graham moved that council's approval be required for anything to go into the reservoir, to protect the town's water source.
He was supported by Don Crispin, but Graham's motion was defeated 5-2. Other council members said the town administration had taken all necessary precautions and that decisions of this kind should be left at that level.
