NEW RIVER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS
EDGAR L. BELCHER announced his resignation as chief executive officer of Pulaski Community Hospital. He is accepting a new position with HealthTrust in the New River Valley, the parent company of both Pulaski Community and Montgomery Regional hospitals.Belcher will leave his position Feb. 29 and a new CEO will be appointed by the hospital's Board of Trustees and HealthTrust in mid-February. Belcher has been the CEO since moving to Pulaski in 1985.
There are four new senior executive changes at Hercules Inc., which runs the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. They are:
\ ROBERT J. A. FRASER, senior vice president of administration. Reporting to Fraser will be the human resources, public affairs, management processes, international, and science and technology groups. He was president of the paper technology group.
\ VINCENT J. CORBO, group vice president and president of the Hercules Materials Co. Several groups will report to Corbo, including packaging films and textile products. He was president of Hercules Advanced Materials and Systems Co.
\ C. DOYLE MILLER, group vice president and president of Hercules Chemical Specialties Co. Reporting to Miller are the paper technology group and the resins group. He was president of the Aqualon Co.
\ THOMAS G. TEPAS, group vice president and president of Hercules Food and Functional Chemicals Co. Reporting to Tepas will be the Aqualon Co. and the fragrance and food ingredients group. He was president of the fragrance and food ingredients group.
\ KEN FARMER of Ken Farmer Realty & Auction of Radford won a first-place award from the National Auctioneers Association for a color brochure he produced. Also, his company received four first-place advertising awards at the January annual convention of the Virginia Auctioneers Association. Farmer is director of the state association.
The new officers of Pulaski County Hosts, operators of the visitors center at exit 98 off I-81, are:
President KEVIN MEADOWS, who is manager of the Dublin Comfort Inn; vice president PETER HUBER, who is the assistant Pulaski County administrator; secretary DEBBIE LINEWEAVER, of New River Community College; and treasurer MARK WIGGINTON, of Signet Bank in Pulaski.
Chosen for three-year terms on the Pulaski County Hosts board are: JOANN BELL, of Century 21 Bell Realty; LAYNE BURCHAM, of NationsBank; CHARLES COOK, of C&S Galleries and the Dublin Flower Shop; SCOTT FLICKINGER, of New River Trail State Park; BILL HUBBLE, of First Virginia Bank; Pulaski attorney GENE NUCHOLS; and MILDRED LAINE, of Services Unlimited. Laine will also direct operations at the visitors center on a part-time basis.
\ SUSAN P. PEDIGO of Dublin was named Employee of the Year by Blacksburg-based Adia Personnel Services, where she has been a temporary employee since April 1991. She earned the award for her outstanding performance, dedication and high standards while on temporary assignments.
Dr. ROBERT R. BOWMAN recently joined the medical staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital. His practice is on Radford Street in Christiansburg.
Bowman, who received a medical degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical School in Ohio, has spent 13 years with the Stuart Clinic in Patrick County, where he practiced family medicine with a special interest in pediatrics.
