LAYNE, HERMAN J.

Herman Jackson (Jack) Layne, age 75 of 2175 West Ridge Rd. died Tuesday evening at his residence. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Highways. He is survived by his wife, Neta Cassell Layne of Wytheville; two daughters, Mrs. Judy L. Wilson of Bristol, Va.; Dreama Dianne Layne of Wytheville; two sons, Herman J. Layne, Jr. of Richmond, Va.; Timothy B. Layne of Wytheville; his mother, Angie H. Layne of Wytheville; four sisters, Frances L. Walters, Mary L. Taylor, Ruth L. Umberger, Verna L. Umberger, all of Wytheville; four grandchildren, Andrew Shea Layne and Christopher Jackson Layne, both of Richmond, Vav.; Kelly Wilson and Kevin Wilson, both of Bristol, Va. two great grandchildren, Matthew Wilson and Meagan Wilson, both of Bristol, Va. Funeral services will be Friday, 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Grubb Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Dale Wyrick and the Rev. Robert Johnson with the entombment in the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Rural Retreat, Va. The family will receive friends at the Grubb Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the American Cancer Society. The Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
