$3.3 MILLION IS SECURED TO MOVE ROAD

Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, has obtained $3.3 million in federal funds to relocate and reconstruct a section of Virginia 600 passing through Jefferson National Forest in Smyth County.

The relocation will tie the Konnarock community to Chilhowie and Interstate 81, he said. It will reduce a high accident rate on the mountainous route with severe curves, and improve access to the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, he said.
