BURCH, GILLIAM L.

BUENA VISTA - Gilliam Linwood Burch, age 85, died Thursday in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born in Amherst County on October 17, 1906, the son of the late Pal and Caddy Vest Burch. He was co-owner of Burch Brothers General Store in Buena Vista for many years. He was a member of Odd Fellows for 41 years and a lifetime member of Buena Vista Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Gilliam L. Burch, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Wheeler "Dollie" Burch, of Buena Vista; two daughters, Nancy B. Kidd and Jeanette B. Weeks, both of Buena Vista; three sons, Leslie R. Burch and Donald R. Burch, both of Lexington, Robert A. Burch, of South Hill; two sisters, Nora Stinnett, of Buena Vista and Mary Gainer, of Elkens, W. Va.; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the Buena Vista Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8 1992 with the Rev. Chip Pendleton, The Rev. A. J. Hawes and The Rev. David Bain officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Lomax Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buena Vista Rescue Squad and Buena Vista Baptist Church.
