HEARING POSTPONED ON HIGH-VOLTAGE LINE

As expected, the State Corporation Commission on Thursday postponed for three months its hearing on Appalachian Power Co.'s proposed high-voltage power line.

Under the new schedule, hearings for public statements will be held at the Craig County Courthouse in New Castle on April 2 at 2:30 and 7 p.m. and in the SCC courtroom in Richmond on April 6 at 10 a.m.

The hearing will reconvene on July 7 at 10 a.m. in Richmond for testimony and exhibits from Apco, opponents and the SCC staff. May 18 is the new filing deadline for written testimony and exhibits.

The SCC will rule on the proposed 37-mile segment of the line in Roanoke and Craig counties. The line would pass through a corner of Giles County if an alternative route is approved.
