TECH TO DEDICATE NEW TENNIS FACILITY

Virginia Tech will dedicate its new tennis facility at noon today before the Tech men's team plays William and Mary.

The Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center carries the names of two former Hokie tennis stars. Jack Burrows and his wife, Lee, of Roanoke, donated $50,000 toward the project; Bob Burleson and his wife, Beverly, of Tallahassee, Fla., also gave $50,000. Dave and Betty Burrows of Roanoke - parents of Jack and Beverly - donated $500,000.

Tech assistant athletic director Don Perry said the budget for the complex is $1,040,000.

The facility, built around the old Rector Tennis Pavilion, has six indoor courts, a mezzanine viewing area, offices, a team room, showers and an area for social events. Also, six outdoor courts were added next to the indoor pavilion. - Staff report
