CANDIDATE FILES FOR HILLSVILLE MAYOR'S POST
Rufus B. Cooley has filed to run for mayor of Hillsville in the May 5 elections.
Mayor Jim Webb has not said whether he will seek re-election. Jack Akers, a Hillsville Town Council member, has said he plans to file to run for mayor.
Bernard C. Talley has filed as a candidate for the Pine Creek seat he now holds on council. All four seats will be on the ballot in this year's election. - Southwest bureau
