TO DEFINE PRO-CHOICE, INCLUDE ALL VARIABLES
I FEEL that Debbie Spencer (letter, Jan. 29) failed to understand the full meaning behind the term "pro-choice" and showed a misunderstanding in regard to the specific rights of women that Susan King (letter, Jan. 21) referred to.In using deductive reasoning to say that pro-abortion is an option included in the term pro-choice, Ms. Spencer managed to leave out the options of pro-adoption and pro-life. In defining pro-choice, one must include all of its variables.
To clarify the rights I believe Susan King referred to, Ms. Spencer must examine the other side of the life/abortion coin. In countries where the population is growing exponentially, a family may be limited to only one child. Subsequent pregnancies may be forced to result in abortion with no choice from the mother.
Does Ms. Spencer understand the rights a woman is denied when she has no choice about a forced abortion? These are the same rights a woman is denied in making any choice about herself. HELEN WARD BLACKSBURG
