MARTIN-SMITH
Cathy Denise Smith and William Brent Martin were married February 1, 1992,
at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church. The officiating clergyman was Reverend
Branan G. Thompson, Jr. The bride was escorted by her brother, David Smith.
The matron of honor was Danna Poff, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were
Diane Phillips, Stacey Smith, Donna Smith, sisters of the bride; Jana
Williams, sister of the groom, and Ann Bass, friend of the bride. The
flowergirls were Heather Barton and Michelle Smith, nieces of the bride. The
best man was Burton William Martin, father of the groom. The ushers were Craig
Williams, brother-in-law of the groom, David Jackson, David Laughlin, David
Strickland, and Joseph Hodges, friends of the groom. The guestbook was
attended by Pat Steahley, cousin of the bride. The flowers were designed by
Beverly Stump. The bride is the daughter of Judy Ann Smith of Roanoke. She is
a graduate of William Byrd High School and Virginia Western Community College.
The bridegroom, son of Burton W. and Bonnie G. Martin of Roanoke, is a
graduate of Northside High School and Marshall University. The couple is
employed by Atlantic Mutual Insurance Co. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke
after a wedding trip to Jamaica.
