COCA-COLA BECOMES '94 AND '96 SPONSOR
The Coca-Cola Co. said it has secured marketing rights for the 1994 and 1996 Olympic Games, becoming the first global sponsor for the events.Under a worldwide sponsorship program called "The Olympic Program III" or TOP III, Atlanta-based Coke will have exclusive worldwide marketing rights in more than 100 countries using Olympic symbols and mascots.
"We can go into over 100 countries around the world as the official soft drink" for the games, Randy Donaldson, a spokesman for Coke said by telephone Sunday night.
Coke is spending more than $20 million on new ads and promotions during the Winter Olympics in France as the exclusive soft drink sponsor.
