VARNER, GLADYS M.

Gladys Maxwell Varner, age 82, died Sunday in a Lexington Hospital. She was born in Amherst County on March 5, 1909, a daughter of the late Walter and Madue Tucker Maxwell. She was the widow of Andrew Brockman Varner, Sr. and a retired secretary from Washington and Lee University. She is survived by one son, Andrew B. Varner, Jr. of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sisters, Lucille M. Ware and Anna Maxwell, both of Richmond; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 1992 from Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with The Rev. James B. Grimmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Lomax Funeral Home.
