McMINNIS, OLLIE R.

Mr. Ollie R. "Mac" McMinnis, age 73, of Rt. 1, died Monday, February 10, 1992 in a Roanoke Hospital. He was born September 16, 1918 in Pittsylvania County, son of the late Addie McMinnis and Flossie Dalton McMinnis. He was a long time member of the Furnace Creek Baptist Church and was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Rector McMinnis of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Earl Hodges of Rocky Mount; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert P. and Sandra R. McMinnis of Hershey, Pa.; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeffrey D. and Julie Altice of Orange Park, Fla.; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Connie and Tim Taylor of Rocky Mount; Ashley F. McMinnis of Hershey, Pa.; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Taylor of Rocky Mount; three stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Sally Kate Sink and Christine M. Rochester, both of Roanoke; Clara M. Oakes of Middletown, Va. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Furnace Creek Baptist Church by Dr. Richard Harrell and the Rev. Richard Walters. Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Furnace Creek Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Arrington-Bussey Funeral Home.
