BEAMER MAY MAKE STAFF CHANGES
Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer said Monday night that he has conducted an evaluation of his staff and probably will make a statement today.Beamer said he had met individually with all nine of his full-time assistants, as well as volunteer and graduate assistants, and would meet with his staff as a group at 9 a.m. There was speculation that Beamer might make changes after the Hokies slipped to 5-6 this past fall after back-to-back winning seasons.
"I've been thinking about this since around Christmas," said Beamer, who has kept eight of the coaches who comprised his first Tech staff in 1987.
"We met and talked about what was good and what needed to improve. We talked about how positions were played, how [the coaches] recruited and their responsibilities as assistants."
