AIRMAN APPRENTICE KEITH A. McDANIEL, son of Jack H. and Sue S. McDaniel of 2400 12 O'Clock Knob Road, Salem, recently reported for duty with Patrol Squadron 5 at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla.
McDaniel graduated from Salem High School in 1989.
\ NAVY AIRMAN PHILLIP M. SHELL, son of Pleas H. and Shirley J. Shell of 519 Caldwell St., recently departed for a six-month deployment aboard the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS America, which will lead an eight-ship battle group during routine operations in the Mediterranean Sea.
Shell graduated from William Fleming High School in 1988.
\ AIRMAN GARY L. PATTON JR., son of Lovella L. Patton of New Castle and Gary Patton of 20 Lamay Drive, Salem, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Patton is a 1991 graduate of Craig County High School.
\ PVT. GEORGE A. TALIAFERRO II, son of George A. Taliaferro of 102 Maple St. and Vernell T. Ball of 4094 Daugherty Road, both of Salem, completed Army basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Taliaferro is a 1991 graduate of Glenvar High School.
\ PFC. TRACY C. LUPTON, son of Barbara B. Lupton of 5314 Carolyn Drive, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., and was promoted to his present rank.
Lupton graduated from Salem High School in 1991.
\ PFC. DANIEL R. ALLEN, son of William M. and June S. Allen of 425 Ingal Blvd., Salem, recently reported for duty with 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Allen is a 1990 graduate of Glenvar High School.
