In a move to attract business travelers and make Kennedy International Airport more of a domestic hub, TWA said Wednesday it would add morning flights from Kennedy to six cities - Atlanta, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington and Boston - and offer low fares, such as a $99 unrestricted one-way fare between Kennedy and Chicago.
Amtrak is eliminating 230 blue-collar and management jobs across the country, the railroad said Wednesday. A spokeswoman said the move is one of several to offset $67 million in projected losses for the fiscal year ending next Sept. 30. Amtrak had said it will furlough 1,000 maintenance workers for up to three months starting July 1 unless its economic situation has improved.
