HUSBAND FOUND GUILTY OF MURDER-BY-SNAKE TRY

A jury convicted a snake-handling preacher Wednesday of trying to kill his wife by forcing her hand into a cage of rattlesnakes.

The Jackson County Circuit Court jury deliberated five hours before returning the verdict against the Rev. Glenn Summerford, 47, pastor of the Church of Jesus With Signs Following.

Summerford, who had been free on $20,000 bond raised by his congregation, was taken into custody pending an appeal bond hearing today.

"I feel really good about the verdict," said Summerford's wife, Darlene. "Thank the Lord they convicted him." - Associated Press
