ROANOKE FCA CHAPTER TO HONOR GEORGE PREAS
George Preas, a former standout at Jefferson High School, Virginia Tech and the Baltimore Colts, will be honored at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' breakfast Feb. 20 at 7 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.Preas won all-state honors in football and wrestling at Jefferson and all-state, All-Southern and All-American honors at Tech. He was a regular offensive tackle with the Colts from 1955 through the 1965 season. He was voted "unsung hero" by his coaches and teammates after the Colts' sudden-death win over the New York Giants in the World Championship playoff game in 1957.
The speaker for the breakfast will be Mike Semones, a former all-around athlete at Glenvar High School.
Semones was a special-team football player for two seasons at Virginia Tech before transferring to James Madison University in 1990 to prepare for a career in special education. He is president of JMU's Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter.
The Glenvar huddle will conduct devotions.
