IN SCHOOL

THE 1991 JEFF DURHAM SCHOLARSHIP has been awarded to three students who received $1,900 each.

The students are Jason St. Clair, a graduate of Cave Spring High School Mitchell who is a junior at Ferrum College; Barry Shelton, a graduate of Patrick Henry High School who attends West Virginia State College; and Mark Mitchell, a graduate of William Byrd who is in his second year at Ferrum.

The scholarship fund was established in 1983 in memory of an American Legion baseball player who was killed by lightning during practice.

\ REP. JIM OLIN, D-Roanoke, has nominated the following students for appointment to U.S. service academies:

Alexander J. Haddad of Cave Spring High School, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Naval Academy; Christopher W. Sweet and Thomas A. Walton of William Fleming High School, Air Force Academy; and Eric A. Pranzarone of Cave Spring, Naval Academy.

\ MICHAEL WOLF, son of Leonora Wolf of Roanoke, was named committee member of the month for December at Lynchburg College.

Wolf, a sophomore, worked on special events for the college's Students Activities Board.
