JOHNSON, CLAUDE L.Claude L. Johnson, age 78, of Roanoke, died Thursday in a local hospital. He was a member of the Melrose Baptist Church and the Bedford Lodge No. 244 AF & AM of Moneta. He was retired from the Kroger Company. Surviving are his wife, Ruby M. Johnson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca J. Martin, Lynchburg; Faye and Randolph A. Becker, Roanoke; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edith J. Hicks, Moneta. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service conducted by Bedford Lodge No. 244 AF & AM, 7:00 p.m. Friday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel where funeral services will be conducted, 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 1992. The Rev. Larry E. Sprouse will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Melrose Baptist Church New Sanctuary Fund. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel after 12:00 noon Friday.
