CIVIL WAR WEEKEND AT VA. TECH
Civil War Weekend will be held Friday and next Saturday at Virginia Tech.Featured speaker is James Robertson Jr., author of the Pulitzer-nominated book "Soldiers Blue and Gray." Robertson teaches a Civil War history course attended by nearly 600 students each year.
Civil War Weekend is sponsored by Virginia Tech Alumni Association and the Donaldson Brown Continuing Education Center. Other speakers will include Charles Roland, visiting professor for military history at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and Harold Howard, great-great grandson of a Civil War soldier.
Roland is an expert in the military of the South during the Civil War and has written many books on the subject. Howard will present "Private John Howard: Second Virginia Cavalry, C.S.A."
Registration for the entire weekend is $60 per person. This covers instruction, materials and meals. Lodging at the Donaldson Brown Center is not included. For more information, call Dean Farmer at the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, 231-6285.
