Boy! Talk about dunderheads!
I've lived in Montgomery County for 15 years and I thought I'd heard it all. The county government and those connected with it have pulled some really stupid crap, and in some cases didn't pull any crap when they should have. But their latest folly takes the cake.
The issue I'm addressing is the decision to run a water pipeline from the New River/Christiansburg area to the Shawsville/Elliston area.
Elliston has Big Spring, a spring that pumps thousands of gallons of water right up out of the ground, a large well that Mr. Henson used to own, and the south fork of the Roanoke River running right through the middle of it.
We have water coming out our ears!
I have nine years experience as a water and wastewater plant operator for Roanoke City, Salem and Roanoke County. And, folks, let me tell you: If you let them get away with this one, you and your descendants deserve to pay through the nose from now on, because you are either too stupid or too apathetic to do anything about it.\ Vic Ham\ Elliston
