MERRILL, ALLENE T.Allene Thompson Merrill, age 65 of 1007 Valient Lane, Martinsville, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday at her residence. She is the wife of Alfred H. Merrill. She was born in Ripplemead, Va., January 30, 1927, a daughter of the late Crisptin D. Thompson and the late Elizabeth Troutt Thompson. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Jo Ann Merrill and a son, Donald Merrill. Mrs. Merrill was a member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville. Surviving in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Cathy) Gardner of Martinsville, Va.; sons, Alfred H. Merrill, Jr. of Stone Mountain, Ga.; Bob G. Merrill of Martinsville, Va.; brothers, James W. Thompson of Chester, Va.; Earl L. Thompson of Lynchburg, Va.; grandchildren, David B. Merrill, Kathleen A. Merrill, Robert M. Gardner, and Ashley M. Gardner. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas McCann, Bob Merrill and the Rev. Charles A. Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the home. Interment will be in Sherwood Burial Park, Salem, Va. Memorials may be made to Samartians Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, N.
