BROOKVILLE WRESTLERS BEST IN REGION III

Brookville claimed four individual titles on its way to winning the Region III wrestling tournament Saturday at Rustburg High School.

Northside finished second and Lord Botetourt was third in the 20-team field.

A trio of Lord Botetourt wrestlers won championship matches. Dan Sell (125-pound class), Bobby Stewart (130) and Bryan Anderson (152) each were weight class champions for the Cavaliers.

Robin Keeling (140) and Clifton Dunford (103) each won titles for Northside. William Byrd's Derek Linderman won at 135, Salem's Lugman Wade won at 119, Tunstall's Chris Long won at 171 and David Anthony was the heavyweight champ for Staunton River.

The top four wrestlers advance to the Group AA tournament in Hampton next weekend. - Staff report
