NO ARRESTS MADE IN DEA DRUG LAB RAID
Federal, state and local authorities raided an unoccupied methamphetamine lab off Virginia 606 in Franklin County last week, a Drug Enforcement Administration official said Tuesday. No arrests have been made, said DEA agent Al Henley.
Henley said investigators received information that a methamphetamine lab had been set up in a mobile home in the Henry-Ferrum section of Franklin County. He said the lab had not been there long.
When authorities raided the lab, with assistance from the county hazardous-materials team, it wasn't operational or occupied, Henley said. The hazardous-materials team was along because of the danger from chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine, authorities said.
Henley said that agents confiscated laboratory equipment and chemicals in the raid. A search warrant and affidavit in the case is sealed, authorities said.
Henley said the investigation is continuing but that no charges are pending.
