CITY NEEDS TEAM PLAYER AS MAYOR
THERE IS a form of racism far more evil than the burned cross, more cruel than the foul word uttered from ignorance. It is the face of that white politician making promises he doesn't intend to keep.He comes to the black community as a "friend." He may even do some little something to "prove" that he is the only one who really cares about his "black brothers and sisters."
I respect the citizens of Roanoke enough to know that they can see through this kind of behavior, and do what is best for the city. In these troubled economic times, we need cool heads. We don't need someone who starts fights. We don't need the braggart. We don't need one who uses others to gain personal power.
We don't need one who will not share the credit for successes and will not accept responsibility for failures. We need a team player.
I ask you to look for those qualities in our next mayor that we found in Mayor Taylor. He has told us in whom his faith lies. If we follow his advice, every citizen in the valley will be blessed. BONNIE S. STEELE ROANOKE
