READ BOWERS' LIPS, SUPPORT MUSSER
IF DAVID Bowers was a Tudor's Biscuit, he would be the purest ham on a stale biscuit. He's tough to chew and harder to swallow.Perhaps the Labor Council believes that, as mayor, Bowers can guarantee that buildings will be built with local union labor. Perhaps the black community believes that bologna. They seem to think he will bring in more jobs, and will give them only to members of that community. Perhaps these two groups need to read Joel Turner's article about the powers of the mayor.
Read Bowers' lips! Remember the last person who used that line on us? When we accept that politicians promise us anything, and we support those politicians, we get what we deserve.
On Feb. 22 the Democrats will meet to choose the next mayor of Roanoke. Howard Musser may not tell you what you want to hear, but he tells you the truth. I ask your support for a rarity in American society: an honest politician. I ask your support for Howard Musser. LINDA F. HARMAN ROANOKE
