DICKERSON, MELVINMelvin Dickerson, age 73, of Botetourt County passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was retired from N&W Railroad and served with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Minnix Dickerson; three sons, Donald M. Dickerson, Vinton; James F. Dickerson, Botetourt County; Paul L. Dickerson, Roanoke; four daughters, Nancy D. DeCatur, Goldsboro, N.C.; Sheila D. Criner, Vinton; Melva D. Jeffries, Roanoke; Rebecca D. Durham, Botetourt County; one brother, John W. Dickerson, Jr., Vinton; one sister, Peggy Graham, Orlando, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 1992 from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Steven W. VanHouten and the Rev. Jodie Hendricks will officiate. Interment in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. Friends may call at Lotz Vinton Chapel.
