WORKSHOP TO AID ALZHEIMER FAMILIES
The changing roles of family members will be part of "Alzheimer's Disease and Its Effects on the Family," a workshop for those who care for victims of this chronic illness.Other topics will include an update on current research and treatment, handling a crisis at home, considering nursing homes and starting a support group.
"This workshop is a vehicle to further support for the care givers," said workshop coordinator Stel Saari. "Handling the disease requires a lot of adjustment and families need support."
Saari is hoping a support group can be established through this workshop, which is being sponsored by the New River Valley Community Services Board and Montgomery Regional Hospital.
The workshop will be held in the hospital's fourth-floor classrooms on Monday, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. There is a $10 fee. For more information, and to register, call 382-8835.
