ATTORNEY DENIES HUFF TO BUY CHARLES TOWN
An attorney for Charles Town Races on Wednesday denied an official's statement that former West Virginia football great Sam Huff and others have offered to buy the thoroughbred track for $13 million.State Racing Chairman Bob Burke said Tuesday that the offer is the second one made by the 10-member group.
The track is owned by a group headed by Keith Wagner, whom Burke said personally owns about a third of the stock.
Track spokesman Paul Espinosa referred questions seeking comment Wednesday to track attorney Richard Douglas.
Douglas said there were discussions between the track's owners and the Huff group, but no offer has been made.
Huff is a member of the NFL and West Virginia University athletic halls of fame. He now serves as a radio commentator for the NFL's Washington Redskins. - Associated Press
