JOHNSON, REBECCA H. Rebecca Hurt Johnson, 59 of Moneta, Va. (Smith
Mountain Lake), formerly of Greensboro, N.C. and Reidsville, N.C., died
Saturday at her home. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at
Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Reidsville with the Rev. Jake Derrick
officiating. She had been a kindergarten teacher for a number of years, both
in Reidsville, N.C. and Roanoke, Va. She was a graduate of Saint Mary's Junior
College in Raleigh, N.C. and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
She was a member of the Junior League of Greensboro and an active member of
Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Reidsville. Surviving are her husband, Lucius
E. Johnson of the home; one daughter, Virginia Hurt Johnson, Washington, D.C.;
two sons, Edward Roberts Johnson II, Studio City, Calif.; William Thomas
Johnson, Reidsville, N.C.; mother, Mrs. Ruth Wilson Hurt, Greensboro, N.C.;
two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Virginia) Breeden, Norfolk, Va.; Mrs. E. Cabell
(Shirley) Brand, Salem. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, Va. Memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society or the United Way of Reidsville, N.C.
