Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. on Monday declared a 3-for-2 split of its common stock, with shares to be distributed April 6 to shareholders on March 16.

The quarterly dividend on the increased number of shares is to be determined at the board's May meeting.

Directors of A.G. Edwards Inc., a St. Louis stock brokerage firm operating a Roanoke office, Friday declared a 5-for-4 stock split in the form of a 25 percent stock dividend to shareholders. It will be distributed April 1 to shareholders on March 6.

The board also declared a quarterly dividend of 16.25 cents on the old shares, equal to a 16 percent increase.
