Lloyd Samuel Ramsey, Sr., 78, died Monday in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rockbridge County on March 16, 1913, the son of the late Simon and Estelle Hite Ramsey. He was retired from Owens-Illinois, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Alma Layton Ramsey of Buena Vista; four daughters, Florence Reynolds of Natural Bridge Station, Annie Higgins of Chester, Phyllis Hostetter of Pittsfield, Mass. and Pat West of Hope Mills, N.C.: four sons, Jewett Ramsey of Natural Bridge Station, Thomas Ramsey of Charlottesville, Roger Ramsey of Rutherfordton, N.C. and Lloyd (Sammy) Ramsey, Jr. of Buena Vista; two brothers, Morris Ramsey of Fairfield and Manson Ramsey of Buena Vista; four sisters, Macie Fitzgerald, Ethel Hite and Agnes Jones, all of Buena Vista and Helen Painter of Waynesboro; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Natural Bridge Pentecostal Holiness Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 1992 with the Rev. Barry Nall officiating. Burial will follow in Glasgow Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Lomax Funeral Home.
