PULASKI SUPERVISORS APPROVE LONG-RANGE COUNTY GOALS
The Pulaski County Board of Supervisors has approved long-range goals in five categories - jobs, facilities, quality of life, financial savings and coordination.\ Jobs: Promote economic development through the use of available industrial sites and buildings; seek recertification as an industry-ready community from the state Department of Economic Development; and work with the New River Valley Economic Development Alliance.
\ Facilities: Maintain facilities and build new ones to meet the requirements of the next century for education, solid-waste management, courthouse, water, sewer, recreation and jail.
\ Quality of life: Protect Claytor Lake and make it accessible; improve parks, recreation, education and medical facilities.
\ Financial management: Balance the revenue burden among taxpayers; maintain adequate cash reserves; avoid inefficiency and use technology.
\ Coordination: Simplify and streamline service delivery to improve efficiency in county government and among neighboring governments; support such major entities as Claytor Lake, Boy Scouts, state parks and national forest facilities.
The goals resulted from a board retreat this month in Dublin. They were formally adopted Monday night.
