REBELS' GOALIE WINS ECHL AWARD
Roanoke Valley Rebels goaltender Mike James, who had a 1.62 goals-against average in three games last week, has been voted the East Coast Hockey League's player of the week for Feb. 17-23.James recorded his league-high third shutout of the season in a 3-0 win at Toledo. He stopped 117 of 122 shots as the Rebels posted a 1-1-1 record for the week.
James is the first Rebel to win the award this season.
The Rebels play at Knoxville tonight in a key game regarding the ECHL's Eastern Division playoff picture. With three weeks left in the 64-game regular season, Roanoke Valley leads Knoxville by four points in the battle for the sixth and final playoff berth in the East. - Staff report
